When one fear runs the whole show
A phobia is an intense, focused fear — of flying, needles, sickness, driving, heights, spiders, enclosed spaces — strong enough to bend your choices around avoiding it. Phobias can feel irrational even to you, and they respond remarkably well to the right, gentle approach.
-
A specific phobia is marked fear of a particular object or situation that's out of proportion to the actual danger, and strong enough that you avoid it or endure it with dread. The avoidance brings quick relief, which teaches the brain the fear was justified — so it grows.
-
Immediate, intense fear when facing (or anticipating) the trigger
Going out of your way to avoid it, sometimes at real cost
Physical symptoms — racing heart, nausea, freezing, or panic
Knowing the fear is outsized yet feeling unable to override it
Shrinking plans or opportunities to keep the trigger at bay

Phobias are maintained by avoidance, and CBT is the most effective treatment there is for them. We rebuild your relationship with the feared thing gradually and with your full consent, so your nervous system learns it's safe through direct experience rather than argument. You'll develop the willingness to sit with discomfort in service of getting your life back — always at a pace you set. Many people are surprised how contained and even straightforward this work can be.
-
We plan a step-by-step approach together, never rushed, always collaborative. You stay in control the entire way. Sessions are online, and the skills transfer to real-world situations.
